The Role

Establish strategic direction for category in conjunction with Business Manager and DMM/PM in order to deliver budgeted KPI’s and meet Kmart’s strategic objectives.

Manage and plan an assigned department in line with strategy and meeting KPI’s including sales, profit, OTB and stock flows. While leading and developing a team of planners and planning assistants.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandise KPI’s/Strategic Direction for Assigned Category

  • Working with BM/PM/DMM to set strategic direction for category and communicate/implement with team
  • Implement departmental strategy with team to develop plan that achieves sales, profit and inventory targets
  • Financial Management – Managing categories on an ongoing basis ensuring merchandise financial plan remains within business expectations and KPIs

Leadership

  • Lead and develop direct report planners in conjunction with the RBU planning team to deliver Kmart's strategic direction and financial goals
  • Provide direction to the relevant Buying Team in delivering Kmart’s strategic direction
  • Clearly articulate Kmart's strategy to the relevant planning and buying teams
  • Develop direct report planning team to ensure consistently outstanding merchandise ranging, planning and assortments.

Manage/Trade a dept in Planner Role

  • Manage a dept as per planning role
  • Ensure key deliverable KPI’s such as Sales, Profit, OTB and inventory are managed within agreed parameters
  • Work with Buyer to ensure product strategy is in line with strategic objectives
  • Coach, guide and develop all team members, to ensure that both personal and business goals are met.
  • Lead and develop direct report Planning team to support high performing culture and outcomes
  • Manage performance of team to ensure deadlines are met and categories are on track to meet KPIs

About You

Work Experience:

  • Planner 3+ years
  • Previous experience managing area with Direct Report/s
  • Understanding of merchandise critical path
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities/Technology Used:
  • Advanced Planning Skills – Forecasting, OTB management, Financial Skills and Strategic thinking
  •  Strong influencing, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and people skills
