What are we looking for?

Kmart is looking to bring on board a Senior Software Engineer to join the Kmart Digital & Online team. The Digital Tribe is 6 agile squads that look after the Kmart website end-to-end from kick-off to Production aiding the customer journey.

Did you know, Kmart’s website attracts over 1 million customers per day? You will have the opportunity to have input on design for one of Australia’s leading retail websites.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who owns what they build and has a strong Front-end engineering focus. You will be someone that is a pro-active problem solver and who can drive front-end engineering practices across the team.

We are a collaborative environment and are looking for someone who has a cross-functional and growth mindset.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Front-end Engineer implementing user interface for large scale websites.
  • Experience with TypeScript, and you do not view unit testing as an afterthought, experience with Jest Testing framework would be useful.
  • Demonstrated skills with a contemporary frontend framework such as React or Vue.
  • Ideally experience with NodeJS and a framework such as Next.js and know when to apply server-side rendering.
  • Nice to haves:
    • Experience or familiarity with Micro-Frontend architecture.
    • Understanding of Google Analytics and Data Layers.
    • Experience with feature toggles (feature flags) using Optimizely or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of SEO and how that affects your solutions.
    • Know how to build and test accessibility of your solutions.
    • Can implement a design working closely with UX/CX Designers in agile framework.
    • Retail or ecommerce experience would be advantageous.
    • DevOps / Cloud native mindset: we have dedicated cloud engineers in each squad and each squad owns what it builds.
