The Role

The DC Operations Manager’s key objective is to be strategically focused on planning of resources to meet productivity goals and will have full responsibility for the day to day operation of the site to ensure safety, service and financial performance targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

Pivotal responsibilities in this role include the implementation of the Kmart business strategy including driving productivity, executing safety initiatives and compliance, audit compliance, driving achievement of DC KPI’s and managing transport operations for the DC that operates 24/7.

  • Full responsibility for planning the daily operation to achieve daily operation on site to deliver safety, leadership, service and financial performance targets are met
  • Execute One simple way of working planning process collaboratively with stores, 3PL Service providers, Kmart CI and functional Team Managers, plan effective resourcing to meet productivity targets, produce accurate reporting for stores on transport and cluster and load via planning tool
  • Lead and Execute agreed plan either via third party providers or direct Kmart team managers of resources to meet productivity targets and improvements
  • Lead, drive and champion continual improvement culture
  • Manage service providers to deliver against agreed service levels and KPIs, as per their 3PL service level agreements and job descriptions
  • Sign off operational specifications and participate in procurement processes as operational subject matter expertise
  • Provide Subject Matter expert collaboration and communication of Kmart requirements to service providers

About You

  • Logistics management experience at senior or middle level management with proven interpersonal skills, ability to coach, counsel and discipline Team Members
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large teams to deliver safety, financial and service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Demonstrated leadership, relationship building, communication and teamwork skills, together with strong values and leadership behaviors
  • Ability to build a strong team ethos that facilitates continuous improvement and the creation of a high performing culture
  • A focus on driving performance management & career development in accordance with values and behaviour
  • Readiness to make time-responsive decisions and to support decision making within the business unit, with a capacity to be an effective and positive change agent, driving continuous improvement and championing innovation
  • Sound understanding of distribution operations for the retail market and an understanding of the Lean Manufacturing concepts is desirable, together with an understanding of Supply Chain & transport management commercial concepts
  • Related tertiary qualification in logistics is desirable
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of EBA concepts
  • Understanding of warehouse management systems
  • Experience with Automation Systems
  • Experience in Production planning
  • MPI Experience (either as TFO or Deputy)
  • Knowledge of or experience with COR ( Chain of Responsibility legislation)
