What we’re looking for?

Kmart is currently looking for an experienced and innovative buyer to manage our important books category.  Currently this category is going through accelerated growth and we are looking for an experienced buyer to manage this phase.

To be successful this role will have a curious mind and a genuine interest in books. 

You will;

  • Use your strong experience and knowledge to curate a highly successful selection of books
  • Recognise and interpret trends and build ranges to ensure consistent growth
  • Work closely with publishers and other key stakeholders to collaborate on selections
  • Use commercial skills, combined with the ability to analyse customer's needs and research to effectively deliver long term strategic growth.

About You

To meet the challenges of this role, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Buyer experience within a large organisation
  • Understanding of and experience in the books category 
  • Previous experience in books retailing will be an advantage
  • Highly driven, motivated and commercially minded
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven success driving category growth and delivering increased profit
  • Success oriented - you thrive in a team environment and enjoy being able to contribute to a business where you can drive further growth
