Serving the needs of Australian families is at the core of who we are as a business, that’s why we are driven to be a place our customers can rely on for low prices on every day products that brighten their world.

With new stores opening across Australia and New Zealand, exceptional growth in our online business and expansion into new markets, it’s an exciting time to join Kmart.

The Opportunity

You’ll benefit from joining a dynamic team with a fantastic culture and enjoy being part of a growing, iconic Australian business. In your role you’ll be accountable; your work environment will be highly collaborative, fast-paced and progressive - with no two days the same!

With this in mind we have a great opportunity in our General Merchandise area for a Planning Manager.  This role will see you reporting in to a Divisional Merchandise Manager.  You will enjoy both a hands on and strategic role and be responsible for driving the overall success of your department, ensuring it is aligned with the business strategy, consistently delivering financial imperatives.

Working closely with the planning and buying teams on the merchandise offer, you will drive the strategic direction of the divisional merchandise plans maximising every opportunity and minimising risks. You will lead, motivate and challenge an established planning team to ensure optimal sales growth and market share (managing a significant Open to Buy, and forecast stock requirements to maximise revenue, margin and stock turn performance).

About you

Ideally you will possess a proven track record in Merchandise with a strong background in merchandise management.  Driven to succeed, you have demonstrated commercial acumen; excel in forecasting, interpreting market trends and executing strategic trading plans to exceed targets.

You will demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills and be an inspiring leader with a proactive approach and positive team orientation.

You will be afforded accountability in your role and have access to development opportunities across both Kmart and the Wesfarmers Group, excellent remuneration, a generous bonus scheme & access to Wesfarmers share plan (both for eligible team members), free parking and benefits program including a discount card for Kmart, Coles, Target and Officeworks.

At Kmart, we celebrate the rich diversity of the communities in which we operate and are committed to creating inclusive and safe environments where all our team members can contribute and succeed.

If you would like to be part of a diverse team that encourages you to explore your potential, offers strong mentorship and development programs and real and rewarding career path in one of Australia’s most successful retailers, we invite you to apply.
