Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager this role is a key leading and influencing figure in the design, development and implementation of a strategic Early Intervention and Injury Management Framework.

You will be a key champion for an organisation wide early intervention culture that will result in a reduction in workplace injury and illness. You will work closely with our self-insurance provider Wellnz to assist Kmart Team Members to make a full recovery following an injury or illness whilst supporting a positive safety culture.

This important role will also see you support the development, implementation and ongoing continuous improvement of physical, psychological and emotional health and wellbeing programs.

About you

This senior level position requires a background of developing and executing effective injury management & wellbeing programmes, someone who can successfully navigate large, complex and diverse organisations. We’re looking for a strong communicator, someone with a good grasp of emerging trends in this area and who is keen to get stuck in and make a real difference. You will have experience in workplace-based rehabilitation, preferably in a self-insured environment and strong case management expertise. Your ability to influence change and get others onboard will be key.  

What you will need:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a worker’s compensation or Injury management role
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in an allied health field (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiologist, Psychologist, Registered Nurse) or related field such as Rehabilitation Counsellor
  • An ability to think innovatively, and enjoy looking for new and effective ways of working
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, coaching and facilitative skills to influence others
  • Ability to build strong relationships and able to influence key stakeholders
  • Well-developed technical skills that enable proactive effort in being across safety and wellness issues and trends
  • Strategic thinker who implements tactics and actions to improve safety & wellness performance – high attention to detail, self-driven and proactive
  • Able to inspire, coach and empower leaders and teams
