What we’re looking for?

A unique opportunity has arisen to join Kmart as the National Transport and Equipment Support Manager in a 12 mth fixed term capacity. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Transport & Equipment, this role is responsible for ensuring safe, low cost and high performing transport operations across the Kmart network (Australia & NZ).  Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and implementing transport solutions at pace for new Kmart stores
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of deliveries from DCs to stores in Australian and NZ;
  • Assist in the management of Wharf Cartage operations in Australia and NZ
  • Development of transport Request for Proposals (RFP) and management of supplier contracts
  • Assist in management and tracking of conveyance equipment and pallet hire;
  • Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that deliver end-to-end benefit to the Kmart
  • Ensure Kmart complies with all Chain of Responsibility (COR) legislation and requirements
  • Engagement and management of all key internal and external stakeholders to meet agreed service & cost KPI’s
  • Budget preparation and analysis to identify process innovation and cost improvement

About You

Your previous experience in Supply Chain strategy and management, coupled with your management of outbound deliveries and online operations (B2B and B2C), management of conveyance equipment and pallet hire will hold you in good stead for this role. The role will also require:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Have an innovative approach to problem resolution and not afraid to ask the hard questions;
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to lead negotiations to get the maximum benefit and outcome for the business;
  • Confidence and experience in presenting results and opportunities to key stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing stakeholders in a consultative environment;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a passion to deliver results
  • Strong financial and analytical skills

You will have a natural ability to see the bigger picture and have a solid understanding of transport legislation and regulations to ensure compliance.  Your expected deliverables in the first 6 -12 months will include delivering to budget, optimisation of transport operations to ensure efficiencies and value for money as well as a thorough understanding of the technologies available in the market that may result in increased efficiencies for Kmart.
