It's an exciting time at Kmart - we are currently Australia's most profitable retailer and we have some big plans in place that will ensure our business continues to grow and be hugely successful! We are currently transforming the look and feel of our stores with the aim of significantly increasing our retail business. We have over 200 stores already open throughout Australia and New Zealand, we employ over 30,000 team members and we have another 50 new stores in the pipeline to ensure we are expanding our business!

Our Store Managers have been integral in supporting and promoting these changes and we are searching for more high performing individuals with strong leadership and management capabilities to join our team as Store Managers in Training across our Sydney stores

As a Store Manager In Training, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a store culture that promotes leadership, safety, communication and a strong customer focus. You will work closely with the department managers to coach and develop a strong customer oriented team and provide an environment where career progression is promoted.

Working closely with an experienced Store Manager, you will:

  • Manage the financial performance of the store
  • Ensure plans and strategies are effectively employed to increase sales
  • Implement strategies to reduce shrinkage and expenses
  • Provide clear direction to the management team
  • Enhance the store environment to ensure Kmart is the number one discount department store for Australian customers

The ideal candidate should have a solid background in retail management and exceptional customer service. You will be a high achiever with a passion that will motivate and inspire your team, along with the ability to manage those above and below you.

Enthusiastic and reliable, your ability to work flexible hours and at different locations will be the key to your success. We reward hard work, and are committed to workplace safety and contribute to the community.

To be successful, you will have experience in a line management role. Your track record influencing and negotiating with key decision makers will coincide with your strong leadership and relationship building skills.  You will have a solid understanding of Kmart with demonstrated experience in driving sales and building customer loyalty.
