What we’re looking for?

Reporting in to the GM, Customer Experience and Online, the role of Online Trading Manager is a pivotal role and key author of the overall Kmart growth strategy for the e-commerce business. Managing a team of Online Category Managers and Online Merchandisers and providing direction to dedicated Inventory Planners, with substantial third-party support, this role will position you as the thought leader and key owner of an ambitious sales and customer growth strategy. Other key responsibilities in this role will include;

  • Define customer-centric sales and customer growth strategies using customer insights and data to identify key growth opportunities & blockers at a macro level
  • Lead a team of 8 full-time team members and third-party specialists to deliver exceptional commercial and customer outcomes
  • Build exceptionally strong influencing relationships with the Kmart Leadership Team, Merchandise and Marketing teams
  • Contribute to the broader online business as a member of the Kmart Online Leadership Team
  • Coach a high performing team to create and deliver successful category plans
  • Contribute to building of, and support delivery of, an overarching online marketing strategy
  • Deliver outstanding product content at full range coverage whilst leading the product plan to ensure growth opportunities are being optimised
  • Collaborate with the Online Customer Experience team to define and evolve the Kmart online shopping experience
  • Ensure products can be found easily, through on-site search optimisation; search engine optimisation; and continuous improvement to navigational structure
  • Ensure Kmart’s online practices meet all legal and compliance requirements

About You

To be successful in securing this role, you will have the enthusiasm and drive to contribute to building Kmart online into one of Australia’s leading online shopping experiences. You will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Extensive comparable experience in retail, preferably digital/ecommerce leading a team of Online Category Managers/Buyers/Merchandisers
  • Track record of delivering outstanding customer, commercial and financial results
  • Strong analytical understanding. Able to work with analytics to design tests, evaluate and interpret results
  • Able to interpret market trends and act on them to deliver exceptional commercial results
  • Previous leadership experience in a General Management capacity, i.e. experience leading teams with across multiple domains
  • Experience developing and executing commercial strategies, especially customer acquisition & retention
  • Proven ability to create a high-performing, customer-centric culture
  • Those with prior discount retail experience strongly preferred, (those with exp. in an EDLP environment will be considered highly favourable)
  • Formal qualifications in Marketing, Commerce or similar business-related degree (preferred but not required)
