Reporting in to the Head of Organisational Capability, we are now seeking an experienced Diversity and Inclusion Manager to manage Kmart’s Diversity and Inclusion Program. The primary focus of this critical role will be to achieve key targets that have been set for employment opportunities in relation to; gender balance in leadership, people with disability, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Summary of other key responsibilities in this role are outlined as follows;

  • Design and develop diversity and inclusion strategy supporting initiatives in line with people strategy and overall business strategy
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the range of; needs, expectations, cultures and types of engagement required of a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Co-ordinate diversity and inclusion programs, including set up of working groups and project teams to ensure execution of deliverables on time and according to plan
  • Implement systems and process change to achieve objectives
  • Design and lead key D&I Projects (i.e. Flexible Workplace)
  • Address risks and issues, escalating when appropriate to ensure successful program implementation and be seen as SME on Diversity and Inclusion
  • Manage metrics and reporting for three diversity streams (leadership, disability and Aboriginal Torres Strait Islanders) and allocated budget
  • Note – role will require fairly regular travel across Australia/New Zealand

To meet the challenges of this role, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, OD or similar related discipline or demonstrated experience combined with project or program management
  • Demonstrated success in a Diversity and Inclusion role as well as proven experience in coaching, challenging and educating business leaders in how they drive D&I in their business everyday
  • Implemented methods to measure success, track progress and maintain a focus on achieving organisational D&I targets
  • Experience working with people with diverse needs in a similar role (e.g. disability groups, indigenous communities, multicultural communities, volunteers).
  • Experience with developing and implementing elements of a people strategy in a large, fast-paced and complex global company (those with experience in creating a formal strategy to support flexible working conditions will be considered highly favourable)
  • Pride yourself on keeping abreast with advancements in the diversity and inclusion field
  • Proactively discusses major initiatives in a thoughtful, forthright way that builds interest and commitment and demonstrates ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organisation
  • Readily takes ownership of challenging or difficult tasks; identifies problems quickly and strives for results
  • Planning and organisational skills including the ability to really listen to people, reflect, show empathy, quickly build rapport with people
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports including quantitative and qualitative data analysis, along with relevant, impactful and realistic recommendations
  • Available and willing to travel approx. monthly across Australia/New Zealand to ensure maximum exposure, impact and delivery of the D&I strategy
