We now have available an exciting opportunity of a newly created role to join our People and Capability (P&C) team in the New Zealand Support Office either based in Auckland (with a potential to move to Christchurch at a later date) or in Christchurch from the outset. As P&C Business Partner for New Zealand, you will have the opportunity to take on a blended role incorporating HR generalist functions as well as support the Learning and Development functions for our Store Leadership Programs. Reporting in to the People & Capability Manager, NZ, this role will see you partnering with multiple stakeholders across all Stores and Distribution centres in NZ and will include the following key responsibilities;

  • Support Zone Manager and Country Manager with new store openings (recruitment, ER advice, delivery of agreed action plan, training for new management team and other HR assistance as required)
  • Facilitate people moves between stores and/or states
  • Lead a range of learning and leadership development activities across NZ as required
  • Provide ongoing coaching and on the job follow up to participants to check for understanding and application of learning outcomes
  • Delivery of 360’s through one to one coaching (ESCI accreditation)
  • Support Store Managers (SM’s) in delivering individual development plans for Line Managers (LM’s)
  • Provide advice and coach managers to enhance their ability to interpret the collective agreement, legislation, policies / procedures and ER matters
  • Support stores with recruitment process when required (particularly store leadership roles) and work with management to develop and execute a plan to attract and retain talent
  • Assist People Country Manager (PCM) with; investigations into complaints and grievances, in advising and guiding managers dealing with serious performance issues and to support managers dealing with performance issues that may result in termination of employment and/or discrimination complaints

As you will have full accountability you need to be one who loves rolling up your sleeves and can easily flex in a face paced working environment. To be successful in securing this great opportunity, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or business-related discipline with a combined Cert IV Training (preferable)
  • Experience in HR generalist role (ideally with ER/IR exposure)
  • Capacity to be an effective and positive change agent, continually evaluating and championing innovation
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, relationship building, communication, negotiation, decision making, influencing, coaching, interpersonal and teamwork
  • Demonstrated experience in curating, designing and delivering learning solutions for the modern learner. This includes experience in facilitating face-to-face and virtual sessions to increase team member capability
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage, deliver and support multiple programs in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
  • Confidence to work with a Learning Management System and applying different approaches to meet the needs of the modern learner
  • The ability to show leadership skills and self-management within a team combined with sound communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Possess strong time management and organisational skills
  • The ability to plan work effectively and to juggle a number of work priorities simultaneously
  • Knowledge of social learning platforms including LinkedIn learning, or Coursera highly advantageous
