Reporting in to the Head of Online, the role of Online Trading & Merchandise Manager is a pivotal role and key author of the overall Kmart growth strategy. Managing a team made up of Online Category Managers and Online Merchandisers and providing direction to dedicated Inventory Planners, with substantial third-party support, this role will position you as the thought leader and key owner of an ambitious sales and customer growth strategy. Other key responsibilities in this role will include;

  • Define customer-centric sales and customer growth strategies using customer insights and data to identify key growth opportunities & blockers at a macro level
  • Lead a team of 9 full-time team members and a further 25 third-party specialists to deliver exceptional commercial and customer outcomes
  • Build exceptionally strong influencing relationships with the Kmart Leadership Team, Merchandise and Marketing teams
  • Be a member of the Kmart Online Leadership Team
  • Create and deliver successful category plans
  • In collaboration with Marketing, build and deliver an overarching online marketing strategy
  • Deliver outstanding product content at full range coverage
  • Collaborate with the Online Customer Experience team to define and evolve the Kmart online shopping experience
  • Ensure products can be found easily, through on-site search optimisation; search engine optimisation; and continuous improvement to navigational structure
  • Build strong influence relationships with senior stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Ensure Kmart’s online practices meet all legal and compliance requirements

To be successful in securing this great opportunity, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Formal qualifications in Marketing, Commerce or similar business-related degree
  • Extensive comparable experience in retail, preferably digital/ecommerce leading a team of Online Category Managers/Buyers/Merchandisers
  • Strong track record of delivering outstanding customer, commercial and financial results
  • Previous leadership experience in a General Management capacity, i.e. experience leading teams across multiple domains
  • Experience developing and executing commercial strategies, especially customer acquisition & retention
  • Proven ability to create a high-performing, customer-centric culture
  • Those with prior discount retail experience strongly preferred, (those with exp. in an EDLP environment will be considered highly favourable)
  • Exceptional collaboration, influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to interpret and act on market trends to deliver exceptional commercial results
