As we enter our new growth phase, to help drive efficiencies in process, we are seeking to hire a NZ payroll specialist for a 2-year fixed-term contract, with a strong working familiarity of NZ wages and legislation, to be based out at Kmart Head Office in Mulgrave, Victoria.

This role will be responsible for managing the weekly and monthly pay cycles of all Kmart NZ 2,000+ employees (both time & attendance and salaried). Other key responsibilities of this role will include the following;

  • Efficient and accurate processing of NZ weekly and monthly pay run, data entry and administration (including the timely correcting of any payroll errors)
  • Reporting and audit reviews
  • Acting as point of contact for stores and outsourced providers in relation to NZ pay enquiries
  • Issue management resolution
  • Review and process urgent emails pertaining to the pay week/month
  • Process the corrections pay-run identifying any anomalies and rectifying
  • Update Kmart payroll system (eTivity) with updated legislation/EBA as required ensuring Kmart is compliant at all times
  • Release pays and ensure all government payments are made within the required timeframes
  • Manage the overall process of setting up a new store

To be successful in securing this opportunity, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

  • Extensive New Zealand payroll experience in a fast-paced environment within a large organisation (ideally with employees of 2,000 or more)
  • Working familiarity with Pay Global and eTivity system (or similar)
  • Sound knowledge of working under EBA
  • Significant experience managing and dealing with complex HR issues including payroll and systems
  • Significant experience with NZ Legislation including the Holidays Act as well as a demonstrated understanding of various NZ employment and tax legislation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills combined with an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Possess a strong understanding of Collective and Individual agreements
  • Intermediate to advanced excel and an ability to identify and contribute to system improvements
  • Strong numerical and administrative skills combined with strong stakeholder management skills
