To support our 50 stores across NSW and ACT we are seeking an experienced HR Manager with retail store experience to join our HR Operations team. Reporting to the National HR Operations Manager this role will see you providing effective HR and Talent Management support to the stores network and our NSW distribution centre.

Working closely with our State Operations Manager, the Zone & Store Managers you and your team, consisting of two HR Advisors, will provide a broad range of HR services including Talent Management, Performance Management, Recruitment, Culture, Change Management, Employee & Industrial Relations.

You will deliver HR procedures and initiatives, drive talent management processes and facilitate succession planning within stores, ensure proactive workforce planning across store management talent pools, assist with attraction & retention strategies, be involved in stores recruitment activity, deliver and facilitate training programs and coach for leadership, performance and manage people-related change. You will also Lead and manage the delivery of key strategic projects.

In consultation with our ER team you will be managing employee and industrial relations issues, conducting investigations and providing advice in relation to incidents, supporting EBA negotiations and coaching managers to enhance their ability to interpret legislation, EBA’s, policy & procedures and build relationships with unions. Working with our Injury Services & Safety teams you will conduct case management for ill and injured team members and will drive safety initiatives and requirements in store.

You will be a passionate culture ambassador who influences and coaches stores management and team members to model the Kmart values and our desired behaviours whilst working with our stores leaders to create a positive working culture and an environment that recognises and rewards high performance, whilst developing the store management teams’ leaderships skills.

As a leader yourself, you will be an approachable and supportive manager who is heavily invested in the development of your team, providing them with the guidance and mentoring required to successfully deliver in their roles whilst advancing their skills and knowledge. 

You are comfortable with the requirement to be constantly mobile, your office will mostly be your car as you regularly travel around the states and have a visible presence across your store network. As such, you can think on your feet, your ability to work autonomously is essential, you possess great initiative and quickly find solutions that solve problems and add value.

Given the fast-paced, high volume, high touch nature of the role you will need to be exceptionally well organised, work well in a transactional environment, be resilient, responsive and capable of change. You love rolling up your sleeves and can easily flex from leading strategic conversations to completing the required administration.
